A lot of kids have crappy parents, some because of non-perfection or their sexual preference, but mine; my parents hate me just because they can. So when I found a strange letter sent to me on our door step, can you blame me for hiding it? But of course my parents found it eventually.

     “MOM, GIVE IT BACK! IT’S MY LETTER!” I screamed. My mom slapped me so hard across the face that I fell to the floor. As if on cue, my dad came bursting into the room. He took one look at my stupid letter and smiled. “is that what I think it is?” he walked hurriedly to mom. “I believe it is.” She replied. Mom opened the fancy letter and read it aloud,

“Dearest Miss Corliss,

        You have been accepted to a special private school only known to the government and its students and faculty. We feel you would be a perfect addition to our school. You will need to buy your own things before the beginning of the school year of course, but you can buy all the things you will need near the docks where the ship will be that takes you here to the school. Here is a list of things you will need for school,

          ~ An animal you have a strong connection with.

          ~ Pencils, pens, paper, binders, etc.

          ~ An old fashioned camera.

          ~ A charm or object you might find lucky.
          
          ~ A laptop for research.

Everything else will be supplied from the school. Hope you get all you need,

           Mom and dad stood there for a second, and then looked down at me, then at each other. “Our worthless daughter is finally going somewhere in life?” dad said. My mom nodded. “Although why they would want her, I should never know.” I gritted my teeth together. They were talking like I wasn’t even here. They both looked down at me.
